History
In 1975 John and Barry French sensed God calling them to build a retreat center on Oak Creek. Their vision was to serve all believers in the body of Christ and to bring healing and unity to the body of Christ.
They purchased 30 acres in the beautiful high desert mountains near Cornville, Arizona and in 1981 The Community of Living Water Worship and Teaching Center opened its facility for personal and group retreats. They envisioned Christians from a variety of denominations, traditions and personal expressions of worship coming to draw closer to the God and being strengthened by the Holy Spirit to face life's challenges. Since opening, thousands have been impacted.
I will turn the desert into pools of water, and the parched ground into springs."
Isaiah 41:18
After Barry's death in 2005, John French sensed God leading him to sell the retreat center. His desire was that the retreat center's original purpose to serve the entire body of Christ would continue.
In March, 2006, the retreat center was purchased by long-time friends of the French family, City of the Lord. The name was shortened to Living Water Retreat Center and the vision to serve the entire body of Christ continues.
